(NEW YORK, NY) — The NYC record for the highest price ever paid for a residential townhouse in NYC was sold by Philip Falcone for $80 million on the Upper East Side. The last record was broken in 2006 when financer J Christopher Flowers paid $53 million for the Harkness mansion. Falcone and his wife purchased this property in 2008 for $49 million, since then the property has gone under a renovation that expanded the townhouse to 30,000 square feet, which also has an added swimming pool and movie theater in the basement.

The townhouse built in 1879 was originally two separate buildings. Before owning the townhouse, the property was owned by Penthouse Magazine founder Bob Guccione. The Falcone’s also listed their smaller home in 2018 for $39 million but originally bought for $10.3 million in 2004.
