Colliers Hires Marcus & Millichap Pro for Northern Va. Office
Investment management firm Colliers International has hired former Marcus & Millichap executive Erik Binkowski as a senior vice president to work out of its Northern Virginia office. In the new role, Binkowski will contribute to the growth of the firm’s investment practice group and capital markets platform.
Over his 20-year career, Binkowski has lead equity raises, sourced corporate debt, developed partnerships and assisted developers in positioning large-scale projects, according to a statement from the firm. Most recently, he served as a senior director at Marcus & Millichap.
“With experience throughout all commercial property types — office, retail, industrial, hotel, self-storage — as well as a variety of deal types — construction, bridge and permanent financing — Erik plans to assist our commercial brokers in a market that has been heavily overweight in multifamily over the past four years,” David Parker, an executive managing director at Colliers, told Commercial Observer. “He also brings a vast knowledge of how to maximize financing structures which allow greater flexibility for landlords and will assist as Colliers continues to grow its leasing business.”
Binkowski’s most recent deals include representing The Garrett Development Corporation in the sale of an office building and a land parcel in Tysons, Va., for $30.2 million and $19.5 million, respectively, according to a Colliers spokesman. He also recently procured a $14.5 million loan for Broad Reach Retail Partners to purchase Baker Square shopping center in Omaha, Neb., and a $4.5 million loan on behalf of 1788 Holdings to convert an existing structure for a WaWa location in Gaithersburg, Md.
In the statement, Binkowski said he was drawn to Colliers for its full-service offerings for commercial real estate clients. “I feel like I’ve joined a team that is set to continue growing rapidly and increasing its footprint in the highly-competitive D.C. region,” he said.
Binkowski has also held positions at CBRE, Savills, Goldman Sachs, The Carlyle Group and HFF.
